Don't laugh, there are some that cannot get behind the wheel and experience the thrill of a good CCKW drive.
Pics are out there.

I think most people experience the opposite. The CCKW must have been made for giants. Nowadays, people are much taller on average than 65 years ago.
I am 185 cm. That's above average, even for today. For me, my Jimmy fits me like a glove. :)

Regards,

Chris

My buddy is a big dude and when he drives my truck at events, I have to switch out my 20 inch wood wheel for my 18 inch wheel. He just fits but since he is long time truck driver, he handles my CCKW like a baby.

The smaller steering wheel from the Bomb Truck has advantages and disadvanges:

A: Yes it gives Fatty room (call a spade a spade)

D: I notice backing up the BT is much more difficult due to the smaller steering wheel and I use it a yard jokey a lot due to its size.

As an aside, the closed cab steering wheel extends past the center of the cab slightly. You will discover this if you attempt to use a 2x4 from the dash to the seat back with the windshield open and a chainfall to change a tranny....

My problem is not size but I'm getting arthritis in my knees and that makes it more difficult to climb into my CCKW. Dang aging! Like I told a buddy recently, If I'd known I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

That is my biggest problem also Hammerhead. My left knee is totally gone and the right near there. Double clutching for long drives is a killer on that left knee and also climbing up into an open cab. I am getting knee replacement surgery this summer. Maybe that will help some next fall for the Veterans Day parade and the air show at Lackland AFB. :D

I am also a big guy, fat as Doc says, but it does not hamper me in driving my truck or jeep. Determination can be a big motivation factor.

This made me smile :D

I'm actually quite a tall chap (just over 6') not 'big' but even I need an additional cushion behind my back the rear cushion to hold me forward enough!!!! No idea how the chaps managed it back in the 40s.
