GAR WOOD winch data plate with Dutch langauge question.

Post by awg »

I have a brass data plate in front of me, made by Gar Wood, which is
in what I think is Dutch.

The winch is not off a CCKW, but when I bought all of Transfields spare parts for my CCKW, this was available, so i bought it at auction for $20.

If anyone can comment on what winch it is, that would be helpful.

It is a very large winch, at least 50% bigger than CCKW, with capstan mounts on each end, and a louvered side-cover on the gear box.

The plate reads: Model nummer US 15T
serie nummer A-177611

GEEF MODEL EN SERIE NUMMER OP WANNER RESERVEDELEN WORDEN AANGEVRAAGD GAR WOOD INDUSTRIES INC.

I suppose I can guess from that it is a 15 ton winch, has anyone seen anything like this?

Tony
Sound like your describing the 30,000 lb winch that mounted on my 1960 Diamond T 921.

Hope this helps

It is Dutch and says

Model nummer US 15T
serie nummer A-177611

GEEF MODEL EN SERIE NUMMER OP WANNER RESERVEDELEN WORDEN AANGEVRAAGD GAR WOOD INDUSTRIES INC.

Translated

Model number US 15T
Serial number A-177611

Give model and serial number when spare parts are ordered Gar Wood industries inc.

Hope this helps a little,

Rik

thanks Rik,
I have looked at your site before, it is excellent.

It would be great if there was an English language version of your engine rebuild section.
