US ARMY VEHICLE ASSEMBLY COMPANY

Post by joel gopan »

They were assigned to Ordnance and were given the mission of assembling Army Vehicles that were shipped in partially disassembled condition. The men assigned to these units were not always your every day soldier, some were specialists from the automobile manufacturing industry who answered their country's call to serve by volunteering to join the Army and do what they did best, that is, building automobiles. If you want to learn more, try a google search and enter 144th Vehicle Assembly Company. If you do not have any success, I will try to dig up a little history. I have something stashed away somewhere, but it has been awhile.
