Cold starting tips

This might be old news to some or all of you but I thought I should post it anyway. I donÃ‚Â´t think this is in the TM for the CCKW but it sure does help when it is really cold. I use my CCKW all through the winter here in Sweden regardless of temperature. Besides running the motor until it reaches operating temperature I usually put the transfer case in neutral and then shift through all gears in the transmission. I usually allows it to run for a half to one minute on each gear depending on the temperature. This allows the oil to warm up and makes moving the vehicle and the shifting easier.

dsThat is good advice , I know it gets really cold in Sweden, and execially in Northern Sweden. As I live in south Texas cold temps. are not a problem, but like you I do the same thing in each gear, before I ever move the truck. Something we used to do on my grandfathers farm in the old Diamond T truck he used to have. That is where I learned to double clutch.
