Vets of the WWII 40s-50s say "Jimmy", "CCKW," or "Two and a Half Ton". Dudes from the mid 60s('Nam era) up say "Deuce and a Half", the funniest term to come about is the Fire Dept originated word, "Battle Switch."

Those who really know the difference, just

I think we went through this not long ago. My question is does it make any real difference what you call your truck, period of time and TM's aside?

This hobby is what the owners of the vehicles want not what some old 1940's TM says, or something that someone else has decided that we should do. As far as being a true student of history, well I need not say more. There are many true students of history on this site. What individuals decide to say or do is not for debate on this site. This post is for the exchange of ideas and knowledge, not critisim.

Hobbies are meant to be fun, and to be enjoyed at the level the hobbiest chooses. Sharing this hobby with other MV owners is also fun. Being factual is fun. There is no good or bad CCKW, owning them is fun, sometimes they have to be repaired or restored, and that is fun. But why change history?

I don't recall anyone changing history on this site. dYou make the choices you want and other maies the choices they want. If I wish to call my truck a deuce and a half, that is a personal choice and has not changed any history. Only diffence is termonology but no history has been changed.
If I call a Cotter pin a restraining device that has not changed history it is only termonology. Diffenent view points, which does not make anyone right or wrong.
