CCKW SNOW PLOWS AT DOW FIELD DURING KOREAN WAR

Post by joel gopan »

The Iowa Nebraska Air Guard on active duty at Dow had some CCKWs with Snow plows installed by Bangor Auto Body, a Gar Wood Dealer who serviced Air Force heavy equipment. I have run across photos in the film strips at the library. They make poor copy, the best way is to wind thru years of "City Edition" Bangor Daily News film strips hoping to catch a glimpse of a CCKW. The CCKWs at that time were still WWII OD. Plows were red at the time of installation as they were commercial.

It was damn cold during the early 50s winters and I used to observe the "Black Watch" Canadian Soldiers hitch hiking while wearing Kilts in sub zero weather.
Joel

Lets see those reinactors do that.
