For Sale 1945 Chevy 1.5 ton. Serial # 8N 42 21872 DOM 6 13 45
Very original and complete with all the pieces and parts including the spare tire carrier. Ground up restoration completed in 2015. This included a complete tear down to the frame with the cargo bed and cab removed. Frame was in good shape with most of the original wood slats to support the cargo bed still intact. Frame was stripped, sandblasted, painted and put back together. New oak wood cut pattered from original slats and installed that supports the cargo bed. Gas tank cleaned and lined with new sending unit.
Brakes were rebuilt with new cylinders and hoses. Rebuilt master cylinder installed. Differentials were inspected, cleaned out and refilled with fresh oil. Front and rear axles were taken apart, cleaned and the outer seals replaced. Front axle has machined hub to allow freewheeling. Original hubs included to allow 4 X 4 operation. Original wheels had the tires demounted, sandblasted and repainted. Six New 8.25 X 20 tires, tubes and flaps installed. Spare installed with a used 8.25 tire.
Both the transmission (original 4 speed crash box) and transfer case were inspected and are in good working order. Front and rear seals replaced on the transmission. High and low range and four wheel drive all work. Front and rear drives shafts inspected, U joins taken apart, inspected and greased. Engine is a 235 late 50's full pressure engine that was rebuilt and runs like a top. Good oil pressure and starts right up. Rebuild carburetor and new fuel pump. New motor mounts.
New wiring harness installed. Electric system has been converted to 12v alternator. All the lights (blackout, markers, etc.) have been converted to 12v bulbs. Hydrovac was rebuilt by a truck company and works good.
The original cargo bed was stripped, repaired and repainted. Troop seats and bows are installed with all new oak wood. The only rust on the vehicle was the cab floor, which was replaced with new metal. Cab was stripped, repaired where needed and repainted. The cab is all original with the exception of the new fuel (works), amp meter, temp gages and electric wipers. Original speedometer works with 25,500 miles on it. Original oil pressure gage. All the interior panels are installed with insulation. New OD canvas seat. All new door and window seals. New rear glass and seal. New windshield glass and seals. Original door glass. Original hood number found when sanding for the repaint which is: 3486472 S.
Complete set of manuals including: Owner's Manual from Chevrolet, TM 9-805, TM 9-1765A (axles & wheels) and TM 9-1765B (Engine, power train, brakes and steering). Licensed as a Former Military Vehicle in the state of Texas, with a good bonded title. Good used 4 speed transmission included if sold for the asking price. Max realistic road speed is 35 - 38 MPH.
