CCKW compressor truck for sale in Texas - not mine

Saw this in my internet travels. This truck looks like a good resto candidate. Located in Texas, a CCKW 353 Compressor truck. Asking $6500, pic looks pretty good. Just thought you might want to know. Here's the link:

Brent is an honest dealer and broker. I have dealt with him for years. The truck is in College Station, Texas and in very good shape. I saw it at his open house in March.

Followed the link back to look at the truck,but instead read the jeep add,if something has a new frame and body is it restored or reproed,it almost sounds like a kit car.

I could not resist a comment here, the "new manufacture" vehicles that are offered, are a Godsend to one who is interested in having a nice representative piece of history that is ready to drive. I think it is a low blow to discriminate to a person who wants to buy a time machine in order to become part of the MV hobby, and enjoy the feel of a vehicle from "back when". You will note some of the "elite" of this hobby building their vehicle with offshore reproduction body, installing foam filled seat cushions etc, passing it off as "factory class", and many of their followers going ooh and aah over the completed product. Funny, there is not a peep about some who do a "factory class" built with bogus parts. I have always been a champion of admiring and enjoying a vehicle done to each owners skill level. This is a hobby to enjoy, and why not just do that? Bob, this was not aimed at your Jeep comment, but just me thinking out loud about the word "hobby" and past negative comments about those subject "new manufacture" vehicles.

Hi Joel, I have no problem with repo vehicles,I have been in the street rod scene most of my life and the same topic comes up on those boards,whats real,personally what ever makes you happy is fine with me,what bugs me is when people call something restored or original when it is basically a new vehicle, like all the $250,000 street rods that you see on the discovery channel,how are average guys doing thier own work supposed to compete at shows,I haven't had much chance to go to Military Vehicle shows yet but I have to assume this applies at them also. I went to college to for auto restoration and learned that many restorations are usually overdone. Thats why I plan on doing a battle weary restoration on my half track and CCKW. I relize also that alot of people don't have the luxury of living in a rust free area where you can still find restorable jeep bodies,I would rather see a nice repo than a badly patched original,unless you are very good with metal work it always shows and with the current crop of repo jeep parts that are coming into the US I'd rather use one of them then spend years patching rust. Sorry for the long rant,hope you can understand my point. Bob.

These trucks take money and skill to make them look right, some have the bucks to overdo things, and that is what makes it frustrating for a working guy. Not everyone has 100% of the skills or the facilities to do a professional job. I respect the work from all skill levels at the shows. The level of accuracy is no big deal at parades, but the twinkle in the eyes of a Veteran riding in one of these is.

My two cents is that they are advertised as 1945 Jeeps. They are not. THey include repro and current production parts. That to me is a dishonest thing to do. How can a Jeep billed as a 1945 MB have MD Juan parts?

If it is documented that the jeep is 100% NOS/take off parts rebuilt that is another thing. Slap on one phillipino part and all bets are off (no offense to anyone who makes repro parts).

The jeeps have an original frame and running gear, the rest are NOS and reproduction parts. It is kind of like the jeep at Texas A&M Corps of Cadets center that is a CJ2 frame and running gear with all reproduction body parts. As I told the general there at the time when he asked me what I thought. I told him, if you could go to the store and buy a brand new jeep this is it, but it is not WWII and in fact my kids are older than this jeep. ( My son was 16 at the time) and that was in 1993.
The CCKW is correct in it's presentation and run well, it needs work to bring it up to a pristine show quality truck, but it is a good truck.
