Hello Bill Wolf I am glad you like the rig and trailer. The trailer brakes are air over hydrolic, and these have been left as they were although the whole system has been overhauled, new air lines reconditioned wheel cylinders ect. What i have done is added a full independant air syatem on the truck, i Have fitted an air tank and a heavy duty 12 volt air compressor, there is a feed from the air tank into the cab to a dead man handle, the return pipe from the dead man goes to the service palm fitting, and the other pipe off the dead man is the exhaust. The other palm fitting has a feed straight from the air tank which charges the air tank on the trailer, this is also the emergancy air line so if the trailer brakes away the brakes will come on the trailer. Also if there is a drop in pressor on the tank on the truck the trailer brakes will come on. However you can release the trailer brakes by draining the air tank on the trailer. hope all this makes sence. I was going to use electric brakes but doing what i have done means any unit can pull the trailer. Thanks for the interest. Howard.
