Close Cab

Hello new friends,

My name is Robert from San Jose California. I few months ago I bought a 1942 closed cab 2.5 Ton and donated to a non-profit. Now we are trying to restore it. So far so good. Very little corrosion on body. Its pretty much complete, just missing three engine panels on driver side and of course a few small things like door handles and some big parts that need complete replacing, like tailgate and muffle. The engine fired up before started to dismantle it (no brakes)

It was converted to a dump truck at some point in its life.

We are working off small in kind donations and 100% volunteer labor. Slowly but surely.

Here is the story:
Here is the article that ran in the Mercury News

And here was the live NBC 11 coverage.

Next we want to take off the bed. Any advice? (We have access to folk lifts and 70 gal air tank.)

Hello Robert,

Very cool truck. And a great project for even a greater cause.

FYI, I did see tailgates on the VoV site ( http://vehiclesofvictory.com/buying-sel ... -to-parts/ ). They are repros but look pretty nice - at least from the pics that I have seen.

As you get further into your project, don't hesitate to ask if you need information on parts or repairs. I have not taken off the bed on my truck. However, there are many on this site that have, so if you search through the older listings I'm sure that you will find something related.

Do you have any pics from inside the cab ?

Best Regards...
