Hello from Bavaria

Post by cckw-353.de »

Hi everybody

I just found this forum whe I searched the web for help with my GMC. My name is Uwe, I live in Mittbach, that in upper Bavaria, Germany. I have a CCKW 353 open cab that I use for WWII re-enacting and for driviing around just for fun. I bought the truck in 2000 as a replacement for the M-35A2 that I had before. I always wanted a WWII vehicle and when I found this one for a bagin price I just grapped it. Over the years I have made quite many repairs to the truck but it was never fully restored. It was built in 1944 and after the war was copltetely overhauled in 1950 by a US Army depot in Waiblingen Germany. The plate is still in the cockpit. After that it was ahnded over to the Norwegians who kept in in good shape until 1990. The truck was repainted by me and many small things were done to it but basically it's still in the 1950 condition. I have completely rebuilt the brakes over the last two years and just today overhauled the hydrovac.

Herzliches Willkommen Uwe!

Where is the "2nd Armored in Europe" club based? Isn't it in the UK?

They will cross the Normandy this July. Will you be with them?

What about the WWII US reenacting in Germany? Are there many clubs? Are there any events in Germany or do you come to the french and Belgian events?

Oh, well... enough questions for the moment!
