Minnesota located. Not much original and has a reserve.

I was unaware that the put pole drillers on cargo beds....I thought they were all on that utility type body...It does have the periscope thingy so maybe the previous owner put on a cargo body.

A $500.00 Truck, good for the rear body, and cosmetic parts, it costs megabucks to go from top to bottom of a truck in this condition, I doubt that any of the drive train will up to snuff.

It takes real dedication to restore a truck like this, but it is possible. My CCKW looked worse than this when I got her. Lots of sweat, blood, and I mean blood from cuts and scrapes and vision.

With a bed in that kind of condition, would the bed really be worth trying to save? Or is that an easy repair?

This is what I would consider a "junker" and is best utilized for recovery of parts. Gotta tell ya, I have seen a lot of this type since the 40s, and they are just not worth it, unless you want to sink at least 20 Grand into it. I looked for 10 years and after all the dead end trips, I decided to import my truck from Denmark, and this was back in 1983. The NOS replacement sheetmetal and other major/minor components just ain't out there anymore, bits and pieces will show up, but not in a manner taht will always be timely or cheap. "Repro" parts will be minimal, and at high cost, as this is 2005. Good Banjo running gear is drying up, the DUKW operators are scrambling to find Banjo running gear due to short life of DUKW components.

Joel is right on the parts stuff. I could not have restored my truck had it not been for a friend in Sweden that sent me the cab parts I needed to finish the restoration. This site has provided me with other parts needed to make the old truck a lot better looking. Thanks all you guys. :D

I have thrown away better parts than are seen on some of the latest EBay Chevys and CCKWs, it is better to try to purchase a recent clean surplus CCKW and have something to start with. Most of the stuff that has sat in a field for 20-40 years is usually pretty beat, the clean European trucks have a lot going for them, but even those should have the wheel bearings and brakes serviced before attempting to make drivers out of them.
