Sign of the times?

Post by Hammerhead »

Did you guys notice there were 4 pretty nice sounding CCKW's listed for sale in the Feb. 2009 issue of Military Vehicles? One was "air-transportable". There were a couple of parts trucks listed too. That's the most I've ever seen listed at one time in getting Military Vehicles Mag for 19 years!

It is a "sign of the times" adding to a general trend that the antique vehicle collectors are aging and new, younger people are not coming in at a rate fast enough to sustain the prices or the number of vehicles on the road.

I get Hemmings Motor news and have been watching the prices in general for classic cars and the auctions in many cases are not getting the asked for price.

Sad to say, but it will be like the card game Old Maid. Probably only the most pristine HMVs will survive in museums. The rest will be parted out or junked.

If you bought/are buying an HMV as an investment, you are probably going to be disappointed.

On the bright side, enjoy your HMV today!!!!!!!!!!! :D
