Advice on a trailer purchase.

Post by SpookyDad »

I have the opportunity to purchase a gooseneck lowboy trailer. It is dual axle and about 25 ft long. The back section drops down to roughly 12 inches above the ground. The rear ramps are reinforced and there are heavy duty tie down points welded on. The deck has been reinforced and there are 2 electric winches installed. There is a double spare tire holder with 2 spare tires. The rubber is good on all the tires.

The rated capacity of the trailer is 10,000lbs. I haven't weighed my converted truck but since it is largely wood, I don't think I have increased the weight beyond the original weight.

What are the opinions on this trailer?

Asking price is $2700. Sorry but I don't have any pictures.

The axles are single wheel. The weight of the truck is listed as 4400lbs. If the axles are the typical 7k per then the 10k would be the payload. It seems to be a heavy duty trailer.

I only saw the trailer for a few minutes and I don't want to appear TOO interested.

There is about 7 ft between the wheel wells. I know that is pretty tight.
