NORMANDY 2009

Post by Corne Lauwerijssen »

Hi guys

I was interested who is going to Normandy this
year with the celebrations around D-Day.

I go with the GMC and its Ben Hur trailer. And I will load the jeep in the GMC so I can travel with the jeep once Iam there.
Iam planning to travel 650km in 3 days (no highways).
We will start our museum tour in Belgium up to Calais and St Omer.
And from there to Normandy beaches, we stay somewhere nearby Point du Hoc and La Cambe.

Hello Corne,

I'm always amazed to see in which point, you Europeans, you drive incredible distances with your HMVs to go in Normandy in June of each year.

Me and a group of about twenty Canadian HMVs owners let us be going belong to Bernieres-sur-Mer located in the Canadian landing sector in next june. I hope that you will have a lot of pleasure to participate in the rememberance activities of the 65th anniversary of the D-Day of Normandy.

In july 2010, we will participate in the international march of Nijmegen with the Canadian army troops. We will walk 200 km in 4 days and WELL, we'll have worn the shoes after walking  :D

Cheers from Canada

65th D-Day

It was great!
I wish we'd had more time to talk with Colin and you Mick. 30 minutes wasn't enough time to catch-up.
I'm still drying out my gear and still finding sand! :D
Be sure to catch the Irish Military Vehicle Group at W&P, they have a DVD for you 514th guys.

I still wish I had a jimmy "over there"
