400th anniversary of Quebec city

Post by m38cdnbill »

Hello All,

This year is the 400th anniversary of the city of Quebec. This city is the first one in North-America created by Samuel de Champlain in 1608. Next summer, there will be a big military and historic parade which will take place on July 3rd and which is organized by the Royal 22nd Regiment which fought in Sicilia and Italy during the WWII. This Regiment is also the one which fought beside the American Army during the Korean War.

In this parade, there will be certainly near 500 reenactors of all Canadian and American military eras since the colonial period until Timor Oriental War and more than 2 000 servicemen with their light, medium, heavy and Armoured vehicles of the Canadian Forces. All the re-enactors will be parked for two days on the Plains of Abraham (see this website http://www.ccbn-nbc.gc.ca/_en/batailles.php?section=1) and peoples can come to visit camps, equipments and HMVs. It will be a real journey in the time and the history for all passionate persons of the Canadian military history.

In this parade, we expect that we shall be about thirty HMVs and for those who wish to come to meet us, it will be a pleasure to know you and to take with you the glass of the friendship.

Guy,

I may be interested in attending this. Is the Quebec Government doing anything to expidite the crossing of HMV's across country lines.

I ask due to homeland security issues and the fact that my trucks have Antique plates on them.

Hello Bill,

I know that one of my friend Gerry Boucher goes at Stowe each year with his Willys MB. As far as know, he don't has any problems with the country lines. Anyway, we'll have a meeting at the end of january and I will be asking to him this question.

Best regards from Canada

Fantastic John. In our group, we have François Cliche and maybe you'll be find that you are cousins. I send a picture of our group taken last summer for the parade of the 65th anniversary of the battle of Dieppe. François is on this picture and wearing the green jacket and bleue shorts.

Sure, you welcome. Here is a picture of some of us. It's the 1942 Willys MB owned by Sylvain who stand just ahead. I'm stand on the driver side tire and on this picture, you can see the "Croix de Lorraine" flag given by a French friend who was in the resistance during the Nazi's occupation.

I recognize "Monsieur Belanger" He, as you well know reproduces some FIRST class items.
He is currently looking into some decal reproduction for me :)
I will look into the possible "issues" concerning the transport of my M20 to and from this event particularly the "border" issue .
