Had a wonderful time, it was very cold, 10 degrees on Friday for the battle reanactment. Our group, 101AB 506 engineeers, HQ regiment, had the best looking and most historically correct looking barracks. The Chevy got alot of use, was able to get 14 bodies in the back, lot of pictures and video shot of us hauling our group to the battlefield.

The highlight of the event for us was when we presented a vetren of the 506th with his "new" uniform. Roy was wounded in a mortor attack in '44 and spent 5 years in the hospital getting his lower jaw rebuilt. When he was discharged in '49, he did not have a unifoom or any of his ribbons. We were able to gather up original uniform pieces, even the jump boots and all of his ribbons. His 3 daughters gave us his measurements. On Saturday, we had a ceremony in the barracks, where we presented him with his uniform, there was not a dry eye in the barracks. The thing that Roy cherished the most was when we gave him his jump boots. He put the uniform on and it fit ihm like a glove.

Hope some of you can make it next year to this event.

Great story John,

Need a good picture of your truck hauling the troopers for the front page of the website.
