CCKW Compressor trucks.

Post by Matt »

Hi
I own a very original hard cab CCKW 353 compressor truck, built December 1942.I am trying to track down any pictures of hard cab compressor trucks being used in the ETO during WW2 and I'd be greatful if anyone has any pics if they would share them.
Many thanks
Matt.

compressor model #

I recently found a Le Roi compressor engine and frame in a field,it has some OD paint under the yellow, what model engine did the CCKW compressor use? I've been told I can haul it off,and I will, but I would like to know if it is the right one for the CCKW.

LeRoi Compressor

Post by Matt »

Hi Bob
Sounds like an interesting find! there were two types of compressor and engine used, both made by LeRoi.model numbers are D318 and D471.if you can get some pictures email them to me along with any numbers and I'll see if I can tell you more.if it is missing the compressor truck body which incorporates the tool lockers, fuel tank, fenders etc it could be a problem to find a body.
Good luck!
Matt.

I have a Kompressor (actually 2) an the truck that goes under the one that runs.

I have often seen the description of two different LeRoi's but the manual for it as I recall only specifies one engine/compressor set up.

Be careful! If the contol set up is complete, with no air pressure the engine will go to full (governed) throttle on startup! I will be putting a small cylinder int he linkage and feeding it the bleed oil line to the filter so that it can't go full tilt until it has at least some oil pressure

Mine has a D471 model Engine and a 210-G2 model compressor.
I am looking for a LeRoi tech Manual for the whole Compressor Truck wich include the tools .
When looking i learnt that there are two types of Compressors.
A smal model 105-GA and a big model 210-GA.
There is a manual TM-5-5060 LeRoi motorized air compressor model 105GA
And there is a manual TM-5-5061 LeRoi air compressor model 210-G2
Maybe i need both.

Hi Adrie
My truck is the larger model 210-GA.I have an original copy of TM-5-5060 but I have yet to see TM-5-5061 in any form.I can copy some of the info on tools etc if that would help you.is your truck a hard or soft cab? do you have any history on it? my one was brought into the UK in 1989 from Belgium, most of the air tools are post war but I have a lead on a NOS WW2 set.

Cheers
Matt.

Hi Matt.

Thanks for the suggestion .
The owner where i bought the truck thinks he has the manuals somewhere at his home so i wait and see what comes.
The truck is a soft cab , a picture is on the home page of this site .
I do not know the history on this truck yet.
The truck is just a few weeks in my possession and work prevents me for a closer look.
I also have to check the air tools to see if the are WW2 or not.
