Closed cab manhole

Hello to you all,how is the manhole in CCKW closed cab is closed when not in use? On some pics one can see some kind of canvas made cover but in a slight cupola form.Has someone a detailed picture?Many thanks in advance and greetings from Bavaria,Nico

Hello Nico!

I've a similar problem:

It is the cab type 1609 and the cover was made of canvas. But as you mention, some pictures show cupola made of steel.
For me it looks like the cupola was only used on board of ships and landing boats.

I had a cover made for mine with an adjustable strap to tighten it. I made a set of "X" bows that interlock and bow the canvas top up. I have had this for 20+ years and it works fine. I put some footman loops on the cross pieces of wood and sometimes strap things up there like the MG cover
