Adrie sent me this picture of a Red Cross Clubmobile coming off a LCT.
I noticed that it had the pioneer tools mounted on the engine side covers and also the fuel tank on the wrong side with that huge access plate.
What is the access plate for?
The fuel tank is not just the correct cargo put on the wrong side as the filler neck is forward on this one.
Where did the spare go?
(The LCT in the background #453 was lend lease to the UK and was used at Normandy)

If one could get the chassis and USA Number it would be a start. That tank has to be part of a clubmobile set up the circular cover plate has to be a clean out item. I'll bet it is something to do with the sludge from the deep fryer or cooking waste system for the kitchen equipment. As for the Pioneer Tool rack, I don't believe there was much choice for the location

Still a great photo and something else to stir the imagination when it comes to CCKWs. It just proves that what ever one consideres to be the norm, can and find exceptions to what we consider standard on these old truck.

Thats a great picture,I've never seen that body style,it almost looks like some of the european units installed after the war.interesting that they would use an open cab for such a unit.Thanks for putting it up.
