I thought some of you might like the pic of a GMC 352 I have been making into a tractor unit, although it has a open cab, i plan to remove this and refit a closed cab that I have, I think they are a better looking cab.I cant download the pic on here but there is a tread and pics of it on the HMVF forum.
Thanks Howard

Hello Didier
Many thanks for those pics I dont suppose there was any close ups of the brake couplings, and any written info on them, I am interested how the brakes were operated from truck to trailer.
Many Thanks
Howard

I remember seeing these 6X6 GMC trucks in the Vegetable fields of California up until the late 1970's to early 1980's when they were replaced with "mudder" farm tractors that have tall narrow tires front and rear with creeper gears to pull the semi trailers through the fields for picking the crops.
The trucks usually were fitted with super singles on the rear and I don't recall ever seeing one with a cab either.
Now I wonder what happened to all of these trucks.

Some of the trailers back then had vacume brakes that worked in conjunction with the booster. You can actually run the trailer with just one line that is alternately vacume or atmosphere as the brakes are applied. The trailer has a check valve and vacume tank that gets vacume from the truck

Hello Dr Deuce
I dont suppose you have a diagram showing how the one pipe sysyem works on the trailer. The trailer that i have is a 1950s vac over hydrolic. There is still a tank on the trailer but all the piping has gone. I do still have the vac cylinder that works the hydrolic cylinder. Thanks Howard
