Post by Steve »

Hi, Can anyone tell me what the cab head-lining on an early 352 closed cab should be made of? Thanks Steve

Whilst on the subject of headlinings, does any one have, or can point me in the right direction to find reference for the headlining in a closed cab with a cupola the steel inner panels are there but what was probably the card/fibre board panels of some sort are missing.....
Thanks.

I have seen one CCKW closed cab with the hole/cupola for the MG that may have been original. The whole thing looked like it had been put in with a ball peen hammer.

That said, the panel above the windshield was hammered to confom to the curvature of the opening as was the metal upper interior rear panel.

I do not know how you could have a headliner unless you did some fancy metal work to support the headliner by the opening

Thanks Dr Deuce, the cupola fitted into this closed cab looks very much as if it was a "factory job" the cupola it's self has at least 2 datum markers ("feathered" arrows) stamped in the metal trims that runs across the top of the screen and the rear of the cab are definately pressed and not "hand hewn"...
As for clever metalwork, that's far easier than doing the bits you can't weld, grind or hit with an appropriate hammer!

When I added mine, I installed the ring mount and took the truck to a body shop for them to install the cab ring
