Just purchased a Short wheelbase CCKW open cab with winch here in Sweden. It seames it came to Sweden from the Norwegian army in the 80´s.
Something must have gone wrong when giving it a Swedish title:
Swedish title sayes CCKW 353 VIN 6488B1, -the VIN is also stamped into the frame (Swedish regulations), I can not find the original VIN plate anywhere. The papers say it is a 1944, but as far as I understand the VIN indicates it is a 1941.

On the firewall in enginecompartment is a small original plate reading G508 - 75 - 20083 , -what numbers are theese, and what do they tell?

Could the VIN 6488B1 be correct, and they only made a misstake writing 353 and the year 1944 (could be an estimate, since they probably did not find it important). Would be nice to get all theese numbers in order again.

With a 4 digit ser# it sure isn't a "44
It has also been re-cabbed because it should be a closed cab
You are correct on the 353 versus 352
B1 denotes cargo body with winch and split axles aka (Timkin )
the 75-20083 I THINK ????? is the cab number others on the forum hope fully will chime in as well.
Look above the right front axle on the frame rail the "factory ser# is stamped there ( it maybe buried in paint and dirt )hopefully they will match

Hope this helps
John

Are you able to post any pictures of this truck?
Check for small stamped plate above voltage regulator, for open cab should have 1619.
Is the brake master cylinder located on the inside or the outside of the chassis rail?
As John said try and locate the VIN number stamped in the chassis, rear or forward of front axle passenger side.
