New CCKW book

Post by DDoyle »

Well guys, some of ya'll may recall me mentioning a few months ago that I was working on a couple of books about the CCKW. Several of you asked me to post a note here when the books were going to be released. Well, at last the first of these is now available.

The book is "GMC CCKW Walk Around". It is 80 pages, almost entirely in color. It shows the details of the CCKW-352 and 353, open and closed cab, a variety of bed construction, as well as air-portable, LeRoi compressor and cargo dump trucks. The book is published by Squadron Signal publications, and is available from their website, probably Portrayal Press, and I have a few copies on eBay. I'll also have them at Aberdeen and the MVPA convention.

I do not have a publication date for the "other" CCKW book - 256 pages of wartime photos and data.

Between my book deadlines and my Supply Line obigations, I don't get to visit the forum often - if you have questions, drop me an email or PM

Best wishes,
David Doyle

I just came back from the mail box. And I'll be darned! The new CCKW book arrived.

They must have sent a me a "used" copy by mistake, because some guy named David somebody wrote a note and signed his name inside the frontcover

A great resource for new owners or "old hands" that want to see details. Lots of great detail pictures from many trucks in far flung collections. The new generation of collectors is so darn lucky to have resource books like this!
Every HMV library should include these photo reference books.

Please keep working on "The Big CCKW Book" too.

Some of the new book's pictures look familiar. Humm, maybe I've seen that truck somewere before?

Thanks David for helping the hobby! Nice Work.

Got my copy today.

Nice work David! Great pics of areas not usually seen.

Question for all.

The "stiff hitch" mounted for transport on the side of the 353 with the set 7. Does anyone have any close up detailed pictures of the rear mounting bracket. I need to make one for my truck.
