If it hasn't been picture of the week, I think it should be! Just my two cents.

Corne,
Impressive rig!! You should be very proud. Everything looks great! One question I'd like to ask. With the addition of the ring mount and 50 cal. have you noticed any noticable decrease in your truck's performance with all the extra weight? I was very interested in obtaining that for my truck last year but then Joel said it would add around 600 pds and would really negatively affect a CCKW's performance. Just wondering what your experience has been. Once again great job on your rig!! :D

Thanks for the positive comments!

I havent noticed any diseffect of the ring and under the canvas
is only a piece of wood :D So that saves me probaply a lot of weight on top. Thus steering is stayed same and I have freewheelhubs that
also makes huge difference.

And 600lbs should not matter in performance, about 2200lbs does, but is not disconcerningly on flat roads like we have. I still can get to the 45mph.

Hi Corne,
Thanks for the reply and info on the effects on performance with the extra weight of the ring mount. I'm glad that there were no negative results from the ring. Joel Gopan was adament it would drastically slow a CCKW down. Incredible looking rig!!

Yes Joel is adamant about it slowing his truck down.

I have an M32 mount on mine which may be heavier than the open cabbed versions due to the massive arms attaching it to the cargo body.

I put mine on in 2 stages: The arms went on 1st and then I found a ring, gun, trolley etc. This was back when I had the WW2 270 in the truck. I did not notice a difference so that makes at least 2 of us (as opposed to Joel)

I put an M36 on my DUKW

Post by Gordon_M »

it did make it more complex to get into and out of, but with the size and weight of the DUKW I didn't notice any performance change.
