Composite bed owners

Post by DDoyle »

If any of you fellows have a restored composite bed and a digital camera capable of rendering an image 1600 pixels across (or ideally more), please let me know (or email me at ddoyle9570@aol.com).

I have a request - and a proposition - for you.

Thanks,
David Doyle

David,
Welcome to the forum
I have an original composite bed on an unrestored "Norway return"
if this can be of any help to you let know.
The vehicle is currently in "winter" storage
But I could attempt to provide you with some photos depending on your needs.
Regards
John

John,
Thanks for your response. What I definately need is a photo from the rear of the bed looking forward shownig as much of the interior of the bed as possible.

Another shot that would be handy would be of the junction of the sidewall and floor of the bed as viewed from outside of the truck, ideally along the length (that is, stand at the rear and shoot forward along the joint, or from the front toward the rear).

Shots should be as tight as possible (that is showing a minimal amount of the rest of the truck, and particularly not the background).

Shoot for the best quality, largest size photo your camera can generate, and email the photos to me at ddoyle9570@aol.com. Be sure to include your name and mailing address.

Your reward for good useable photos sent in the next few days will be a hearty thanks - and next year a nifty all-new book on the CCKW with your photos in it!

Thanks for responding, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
David

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the website!! A member of this forum (Brian) has a webpage of detailed pictures of his CCKW 353 that has a composite bed. The web address is;
www.northwestmilitaryvehicles.com/cckw.html

Brian found a very nice CCKW that he's restoring. His nickname is "nwmv".

Good luck with your project.

David,

Go back and check the thread under Technical Repairs dated Sept 13th.

Weasel Nut was restoring his composite bed last fall and posted some great photos. I'm sure he has some additional photos.

Re: Composite bed owners

Hello,
I am a newcomer to this forum. I need "A very big help" rebuilding the composite body/bed of my closed cab Gmc 353 - 378100 BI (july 1944). I have scroll down all the pictures as possible on internet and on this forum and read all the related topics as well. The point is that my Gmc body has been totally rebuild after wwii and I would like to give him the original aspect.
First questions are:
1) Had closed cab's composit bodys as did open cabs during 1944? I ask it because I havent faund any pictures of a composite body on a closed cab truck!
2) I have read that during 1944 some wood body lots were still mounted on Gmc's... does somebody knows which frame numbers lots did have it?

Thanks a lot,
Paolo
