LeRoi compressor trucks

Post by Ledog »

Hi all.

Questions about the LeRoi compressor GMC:

:?: What does the serial number of compressor trucks look like? Is there a specific letter for compressor as there is G for water tank, H for dump body, etc...

:?: Is the compressor's chassis different from the standard cargo chassis?

:?: What did the hood number look like? Was it beginning with 4 like other jimmies or with another number because of it's engineer specifications?

:?: LeRoi compressor GMC were always without winch. True or false?

Thanks for your help.

The Kompressor frame was reinforced.

The hood number started with a 0 (zero) as I recall because it was an Engineering truck

Winch, no winch. Mine has one. I thought I read somewhere that the second group of trucks later in the war all had winches and that all the 1st ones did not.

I believe that there is no letter for the truck. It is a -1 or -2 on the sn

I have seen Compressor Trucks both ways...winch an no winch.

Below is a truck I was thinking of buying back 4 years ago. It was used at a VA hospital. Came from Storage to the hospital.
