LWB SPARE TIRE CARRIERS

Post by joel gopan »

Did you know that the two nuts that secure the Spare Wheel to the Studs on the bracket are not the same as the RH Thread GM 2201406 inner nuts as used on the Right side Axles. They have no outer Threads. Has anyone ever noticed this? NOTE: the Chevrolet ORD 9s have a good view of the Spare Wheel Carrier and it is essentially the same as the one used on CCKW. The only view for the GMC bracket assembly, is found in the TM10 Series parts lists for CCKW under group 1506.
I have noticed thare are some attempting to reproduce these, it will be a challenge, as the latch and lever to lock the Spare Tire Carrier in place along with the tapered stud thru the frame that safely secures it in stowed position, are going to make it expensive. The CCKW LWB Spare Tire brackets are a good find, heavy to ship and good used ones complete with all components command scary prices.
I do expect to have a good take off Spare Tire Carrier or two, or components for sale in near future.
