value of a 1940 CCKWX

I have to make a tough descion,recently I have found a very nice 46 White single axel tractor,it has a huge tulsa winch behind the cab and a trailer fifth wheel plate,I've alreay found a 20 foot lowboy 30 ton trailer that would be perfect for moving my halftrack,but I would have to sell something big to finace all this,I've had several people bugging me about the CCKWX,the serial number is 4119,it runs great,has a winch and the bed floor is there and recently I was able to locate the bed sides and tail gate,the cab is badly rusted at the belt line,the fenders are rough,but restorable,it even has the complete spare tire bracket still,all the rims are 40-41 dated,it has the civilian dash which is in great shape,I've hung onto it because the A frame on the front is great for working around the yard,but this other white also has a removable A frame and that truck is a lot shorter,the GMC still has the original blue hood markings and even the original horn on the intake,as far as I can tell the engine is till original. How much could I expect to get for a truck like this,I can't post pictures till I get a new computer but I will send some to anyone interested,just email me at rcchell@xpressweb.com . It's a tough call to make I don't really want to sell it but I still have the 45 open cab and I really want to finish my halftrack,the White is in a junk yard that has been cleaned up,it's about the only thing left and if I don't move on it quickly it too will be sold for scrap,so please give me a little help and some estimates on what I should be able to get for this wonderful old truck,I don't want to part it out,it's too nice of an original hard to find truck. Good luck on selling your scarce truck. It is a jewel that needs to be tenderly completed and taken care of.

Matt in England really wants it bad,I think I have set off a selling spree over there so he can get the money up. I was going to make a single axel open cab out of it but realized it's historical worth,so if Matt gets it I know it will be restored some day.

I am in the process of purchasing a CCKWX, it has a chassis number of just less then 10000, this one was used by the Norway Army, it has been modified, from photos, the engine looks like the later type, as it only has one oil filter, the civilian dash has been changed for the military gauges apart from that its looks very original, and in good shape, just a pity its not a winch model. Been looking for a early CCKW for some time, pleased I have found this CCKWX as there seems so few around.

It would be nice to find somebody with one of these rare trucks in ndeed of a engine..I have a NOS GMC 256 block we are considering building out to a running engine or selling the block alone.

The CCKWX had the 270 engine. The predecessor, the ACKWX had the 256 engine along with the AFKX-352 (bus-like) shop van.

No I do not know of any in the U.K., do you know who has the other one?
Apart from us, do you think anyone else would know it apart from a standard CCKW? or perhaps even care?

Hi Rob,

The first one is easy,me! (although it won't be here for a while),me and Bob are working out a deal for his truck,delivered December 12 1940.

I think most MV owners in the UK see all CCKW's as being basically the same,long or short WB,open or closed cab. I'm sure there are other CCKWX's in the UK but they have probably gone through a post war euro rebuild and have lost most of the early features,it's only the chassis number that would tell for sure.

When will your "X" be here? I remember you telling me ages ago that you wanted one.

Hi Matt

Should be here in mid December, O/K your the other one!!, can see the number stamped on the frame which confirms its a CCKWX, just checking with the seller its a 1574 cab, not 1608, as the part with chrome strip & ash tray is only bolted in, there is a exterior lock on the P/S door, which I think you will agree was only on early trucks.
Always difficult to be 100% from photos.
Your truck should be nice & original, not had the Euro. rebuild.
Yes I agree fully, most Jimmy owners think a Jimmy is a Jimmy, why dont they have the interest as shown in Jeeps.
Was at Military Day at Duxford this year, looking round a SWB CCKW, and noticed the remmants of the early brake system, when I asked the owner, he did not know but always wondered what those holes were for!!
