Australian Army DUKWs in Vietnam

Post by Cat Man »

I picked up a few reference books over the weekend at the bargin book store.

There is an interesting new title "Mud and Dust" printed in 2009 about Australian Army Vehicles and Artillery used in Vietnam. Lots of very interesting photo's.

I was suprised to see that in June of 1965 the Australian Army used at least 5 DUKW's to offload troops and equipment deployed from the HMAS Sydney. The photo looks like a WWII operation but in off Vung Tau RVN. The HMAS Sydney was nick named the "The Vung Tau Ferry". She had no unloading ramp until a later refit.

Anyone know the final location of any of the Austrailian Army DUKW's from the 1960's Vietnam operations?
