About 20 years ago I was given an opportunity to get a DUKW for free if I would restore the companion truck to a static display only. The two trucks had been donated to the civilian group that supported the Lackland AFB Museum.
I declined the offer as I was into girlyjeeps then  . I was restoreing the 42 GPW that belonged to the Alamo Wing of the CAF and Texas A&M's 44 MB. I also had a 43 GPW that I kept up for parades, airshows and ect.
Both of the DUKW's ended up going to a local scrap yard and being reduced to scrap.
I wish to this day I had accepted their offer, but the big vehicles were not part of my interest at that time. I wish they had been saved. :( :(
