K51 Seats

Post by Wolfen »

I am thinking of Purchasing a K51. Unfortunately, the Seats are missing. Does anyone know of a source for Seats? I want to make sure Seats are available before I decide if I'm going to buy the Truck.

When you find them, remember I was in line first for them for my K51... :)

I'll keep that in mind. Unfortunately, I'm not having much luck finding Seats or Plans for Seats. If I buy the Truck, I'll probaly have to put modern Bucket Seats in it.

Due to the narrowness of the cab, many bucket seatss will not fit. You need to measure across the cab by the FRONT of the seats.

In case this helps, I've been, told, that the Seats are the same ones used in the 1941-1946 Chevy Panel Truck.

I believe that they are (41-46 civy) the same. In addition, Dodge seats are close. I have them on my Chev Bomb Truck

I had one guy tell me that unless the Civillian Seats are from a 1 1/2 Ton, they will be 4" to high. He said that was because the 1 1/2 Ton's had the Gas Tank under the Seat. Using Dodge Seats, is a interesting idea. I could use the Seats in my WC54 as a Pattern.

I am almost 100% positive that the seat riser is the same on all Chevy trucks. It appears to be on my K51 panel

My Bomb Truck has a civy tank under the seat.

If I get the Truck, I will ask some K51 Owners for Messurements of the Seats in thier Trucks to make sure that the ones I get will work. Now I need to come with $3500.00 to buy the Truck. I have Room to Store it until I can get enough Money to start Working on it. You wouldn't happen to know anyone who is interested in buying a 1948 Alic Chalmers HD5 Bulldozer? It underwent a Frame off Restoration about 10 years ago. Everything works and it has a Bulldozer Blade and a Roof. It just needs new Paint on the Blade to look perfect. It was used for some light Earth moving after it was Restored.

Funny, $3500 was what I paid for my K51 in 1999? Mine was in Idaho. After I bought it on Ebay, I said to myself; "Ok Icehole how are you gonna get it home? it is in Idaho and doesn't run..." I found a guy and for $1200 he brought it home to NH! 3004 miles

I don't think you could get it from Idaho to NH for that Price now.

I have decided not to buy the Truck. I just don't feel Financially secure enough right now to buy it. Now if someone gave me $3500.00 or I won the Lottery, I would get the Truck in a Heartbeat.
