She has early Grille with bo above the headlamp and a civvy dash.
She comes with what i think a post war french trailer but again not sure on that.
the trailer has air brakes ?????? so is the tractor fitted with a compressor.
She is fitted with a GMC 270 as im sure they did this in her post war years.
Will need parts but here in the UK supplies are thin on the ground, so where can i source parts ??????

Nice find Kevin!

Should make a good addition to your collection.

Are the bumper numbers original or were they adapted by a previous owner.

What are the wheels and frame to in the foreground of the picture.

Bill

Kevin,

Any data plates on the trailer? Looks like a rel treasure trove you bought her from... would love to find something similar here in the states...

Pictures of your new truck, frm the cab back would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, you may wish to acquaint yourself with another 7113 owner, who recently posted on G503.com forums. Theary is in France, and is looking for more info about these tractors.

No Dr., I noticed too. I am also wondering if it may not have started its life as a G7113. I've never seen stamped plate like that... Is it stamped on the frame, or in the cab somewhere?? I haven't seen many mixed case stampings before. And how about that passenger side rearview mirror??

Bonjour
Avez-vous autre photo de votre camion je pense à voir au Beltring. Il est certainement un GMC à moteur
Et pour les remorques, il est semi-remorques de 5 tonnes, 2W, Jeu et platfom, 16FT une rupture de vide

GMC 270 fitment is a very common practice on preserved Chevys in the UK, as it is a reasonably straightforward swap (albeit with one or two difficulties). Another reason is that with the sheer numbers of CCKWs used here and in mainland Europe during in WW2, 270 engine parts are not too tricky, unlike 'Babbit' bearing 235 engine parts, which are next to impossible to find over here.
If the truck is a genuine tractor unit it a very rare beast in the UK.

They also had trailers with vacume brakes and I believe that the Chevys may have towed some of them too.

If you think ov how a hydrovac works, you just run a vac line from the lins on the hydrovac that changes from vac to air. Run that to the same point on a slave vac pot with a check valve and tank also connected to this line so that the tank will get only vac for the other side of the vac pot. It is all in the brake manual I have.

UPDATE TO ALL................ My chev is an original tractor unit, it is fitted with a gmc 270. This was installed when previous owner whom i know very well drove her home from Belgium, Half way home the original chev engine let go as was damaged beyond repair. There are numbers in the glove box but unable at mo to confirm what they are..
The trailer is an original 5ton stake and platform semi trailer manufactured 1944,built by the trailer co of America, Model 516.
Normally this trailer would be pulled by either an Autocar,Federal orIHC tractor trucks,as they have air brakes and so has this trailer .. My little chevy beauty has a VACUUM braking system which she should pull a 2.5/3ton trailer. Also the Spare wheel on the trailer is a post war fitment as these trailers never had a spare because of its short lenght.
Also Hi to Thearly, sorry but French is not good but yes this is the one that was at Beltring Musee...Until it closed 3years ago..
Also i am to believe that this is only 1 of 2 tractor truck in the UK and i do know the owner of the other one...
Regards to all Kevin

Kevin,

These trucks, as you are aware, are VERY rare. It would be very helpful for many who study these trucks (like me) if your could document with photos as much as you can, and as I noted in my first post, this is particularly true of everything from the cab to the back of the truck. BTW, I have seen photos of stampings (I think of your truck) which show:

"Type G7113"

Can you tell me where on your truck this stamping is located??

BTW, do you have a copy of the TM 10-1208 parts list for your truck? If not, I can send you the same PDF file that I sent to Theary. It is the first eight pages of the manual, which detail parts unique to these trucks, and also standard parts which are not used. Unfortunately, there are NO pictures.

One last question ( for now). Does your truck have a second set of rear springs? I have seen trucks with them as "overload" springs, and just wondered if your truck has them too.

Oh, man! I am such a G506 nerd!!

Kevin sent me several pictures of his truck.

I just have to find the time to optimize them and post them to the main site. Hopefully over the weekend.

Bonjour, Thearly
Yes i am looking for any numbers or information on my truck, i have no books or technical manuals.
The truck at beltring has the same trailer that i have but my one has the wooden sides.
Please put pictures of your truck would be good to see another.
My Friend Alex Salome had a chevy 7113 at le tout terrain in Therouanne, pas de calais. but now has sold it..
