Chev in "Darling Buds of May"

Post by awg »

On TV in Australia atm on fridays at 12.30pm is the above titled show, featuring a mauve colored Chev.

also many other pre and post war trucks and cars.

seems to be set in early 1950's

also features a very beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones, aged in her early twenties I guess.

This was a top rating programme when first made in the UK. Twenty episodes were shown from 1991 to 1993 and were set in the 1950's and based on the book by H.E.Bates. The Chevy truck has been mentioned on the HMVF forum recently but I don't remember what was said. If I find the thread I will repost on here.

That was my truck ...

Post by Gordon_M »

It was originally a K43 telephone truck, on which the bed had been altered, and it had been fitted with a GMC 270 so it moved very well indeed.

It was sitting at Mike Stallwood's place when the TV folk were looking for a truck, so he put a standard cargo bed on it and painted it blue - as the truck in the original book was blue.

It was last seen in storage at Beltring, looking a little tired.
