widshield screws

Post by RolandRat »

Hi, is me again, with, yet again, stuck screws. This time I am really screwed as they are the windscreen screws... no heat possible and the heads are all flush with just a thin screwdriver slot. I am wondering, when I drill off the heads, what kind of thread / receiver are they screwed into? I shall replace the glass but the rest In need to keep.
I don't understand why all the screws on my truck are corroded in, its only 75 years old.
Merry Christmas everyone. Roland

Sounds like your truck is a hard cab. The two halves of the windshield frame on these trucks are held together with cross bars drilled, tapped and secured with 8-32 screws which you will probably have to drill out.

Hi, yes, had to drill out the screws... but even then, the bars are "bonded" via corrosion !!
