End of the world kit

Post by dr deuce »

Some HMV'ers carry an End of the World kit in their HMV.

I carry the following:

Points
Condenser
Cap
Rotor
Oil (one quart)
Brake fluid (small container)
Fuel Pump (in my case electric)
Ignition resistor (12v systems with 6v coil only)
Fuel filter, new (in my case inline)
12 ft rubber gas line (tape the ends with electrical tape to prevent contamination)
Hose clamps; gas, coolant and heater hose
Fan belt
Modern fire extinguisher
Tail light bulb
Flashlight w/magnet
Multi-meter (mine includes dwell)
Towels/rags
Hand cleaner
U-joint (one)
Brass fittings to terminate a broken brake line
Small bag of assorted bolts, nuts and lock washers
Wood block(s) for the jack (2x6x6")

Besides the regular:
Tools
Jack
Tire Iron
Lugnut tool
Tow chain
Jerry can with gasoline
Jerry can with water
Flares
Reflector Kit
Insurance card
Registration
Copy of any state laws that apply
Business cards

What about you? What other items do you/should you carry?

Since having one lock up on me I always carry a generator bearing P/No 6203. Once bitten, twice shy.
On that occasion I got home by cutting a section out of the fan belt and joining the ends with a staple made of fencing wire. By shortening the belt to only drive the water pump I was able to proceed on the battery alone. It's possible to travel a large distance with the battery supplying the ignition only.
