DISCHARGE
Negative plate(Pb)----->PbSO4
Positive plate(PbO2)----->PbSO4
H2SO4--------------------->H2O(water)
Voltage= 0(zero)

CHARGE
Negative plate(PBSO4)----->Pb
Positive plate(PbSO4)------->PbO2
H2O(water)------------------------>H2SO4
Voltage different 0(zero)

AND remember that 6 volts from the generator will never fully charge your battery (only a battery with less than 6 volts reading) You have to 'push' the current back into the battery: For 6 volt systems it is 7.2 volts and for 12 volts systems it is 14.4 volts. Those are maximum voltages
