Can I put CCKW transmission in a G506?

Post by rambler330 »

Help! I am restoring a G506 and recently came across a good 5 speed that I purchased and want to install in my G506 due to overdrive in 5th. Has anyone done this successfully? What is involved with this swap? Any and all input would be appreciated! Dan

Look at the spacers on the CCKW bellhousing that support the starter linkage. That is how much lower the CCKW power train sits in the chassis. The floor in a CCKW goes over the top of the tranny because it sits lower. Look at how much that height would do to the floor in the Chevy.

I tried putting one in years ago and determine I could not operate the gas pedal safely. I took it out.

People say they have but show no pictures of the floor in the cab. Your mileage may vary...
