flicking out of high range

flicking out of high range
my truck occasionally licks out od hi range and into neutral - often at importune times like highway driving. Any suggestios as to what i should be looking for?

Disconnect the linkage to the xfer for hi-lo and get the xfer firmly into hi range then move the linkage up to see if it is adjusted correctly. If it is, there is something worn or a bad bearing in the xfer

Split axle transfer boxes are prone to this generally its the high range gear wearing or badly adjusted selector fork which can only be adjusted inside the top of the box. This happened to my box and it got steadily worse and worse to the point my passenger had to hold it in so we could get home.
Don't say can't as anything is possible with time and effort.
