Carb running problems Need technical input.

Went to take the truck to the parade today.

At 1/2 throttle and above at steady speed any gear and while going up a hill
the truck was bucking, skipping, and farting. It would run with a slight
roughness a WOT while sitting still. Fluttering the throttle got me home. Electric fuel pump so good flow. A check of the fuel filter, a look in the tank, and a sample of the gas indicates no contaminates currently in the flowing fuel.

I am assuming it is a carb issue as it is new gas. Plug wires, coil, points and condenser are two years old and less than 200 miles. The truck is 12v.

The truck has the cast iron carb on it with the new style air cleaner, 4
bolt with center wing nut post. I have a NOS Zinc carb which is supposedly the
correct 270 application (not exact for the CCKW) but the throttle butterfly
shaft bracket is 09 degrees off. When the butterfly is closed it is to the 6 o'clock with WOT at 9 o'clock thus 90 degrees off.
The throttle linkage won't connect properly to operate. It needs to be at 3 o'clock when closed and 6 "o'clock when WOT. There is a tiny pin through the bracket and shaft to fix it. It is not adjustable.

Anyone ever heard of this? Know the fix? Is the brass butteryfly cross shaft drilled at 90 too? I don't want to knock the pin out if it is not. Are shafts available anywhere?

I am trying to get rid of the cast iron carb as this is the second time for a clean/rebuild. The inner float bowl is not lined and rusts.
