Front axle won't engage.
This morning I had my truck up on jacks and I tried to engage the front axle in both ranges and while the shaft turned the tires did not and I haven't a clue. The only thing I can think of is something along the lines of the front axle was disconnected for some reason but I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do on how to fix it if that is the case?

Re: Front axle won't engage.
If it is a split axle, there will be a bolt head in the center of each drive flange. If banjo, remove each flange and make sure there is an axle in there and that the flange has not had the splines machined out.

Ok I should have mentiond that I have bajo axles so I removed both flanges and to my disgust there were no spline shafts to be found! I just don't get it why you would want to do that.

It could be, just right now it is too hot for me to do anymore work as I spent all morning pulling all the brake drums off with no help and I swear they must have been neglected for as long as I have been around!

Re: Front axle won't engage.
I took my Truck to a car show for the first time this last weekend[7/14] and I was rather amazed on how many people came up to me and said that they had driven one of these at one time but when I aske about front they all agree that the spline shaft was removed to simply increase the fuel economy and that was it so that was it but one person also gave me the phone number of a guy who rolled his but my dad said not to call yet but at least the mystery of the missing spline shafts is now solved!
