Hi Fernando.
Here are pics. My engine is a 1958 GMC 270.
look behind the exhaust header you can see the valve. It is near the back of the engine on the driver side.
A close up . It looks like the one you have.

Ok rixtoys52.When I bought my truck in january 2005 I didn't have any manual to know which correct type of cylinder block drain cock for it.Bought with same as the image 783 type I withdraw it and put an used part same as the image 784 type(EARLY).This began to leak during two years.Yesterday I changed again 784 per 783.Now it does not leak and it is original for my truck that is LATE VEHICLE(02-44).

Re: Cooling system drainage point.
Glad the new one worked and the leak is gone.
Hey Fernando and Dr deuce,
I have a question about seals.
New seals are much thinner than originals, for example in my transfer case the original is .650 and the new one is .375 . How do you install the new one so it sits the right depth and is in straight. Thanks for any ideas.

My engine is a 1958 GMC 270.
I thought there was only 270 engines in years 1941/45.
ALWAYS use brass fittings there(Dr.Deuce)
The correct is use brass fittings between cylinder block and drain cock?? But the drain cock is already of brass.
How do you install the new one so it sits the right depth and is in straight.
Months ago I still found two originals rear axle pinion seals.I think the important is the inner and outer diameters.

selos originais são feitos de couro e eu acredito que vai vazar. Eu quero usar selos modernos e os usou em minha M37,

Re: Cooling system drainage point.
1941-1962 sort of. The later engines ~1950 I think had a different head and pistons to match. The "turbo-top" pistons of the 1941 engines gave way to the flat top in later years

Re: Cooling system drainage point.
Thanks Dr deuce. I am still learning about the GMC engines. I just looked up the general years of production. Do you have a source that I can read to see the changes over the years of production?

Re: Cooling system drainage point.
Something seem wrong with the Jim Carter chart. I believe that once they changed the GMC 270, that was it, no more old designs.
I also know the later engines (don't know when) had a bigger intake manidold so the manifold to head gaskets were different.
The 302 (at least) has a different head tightening sequence. Maybe the later 270's also
