The first of many questions

Post by 6x6 Dinosaur »

First, How else can I identify my truck as where the data plate should be is a fuse panel instead. I have two tubes that look like they should hook up to the intake manifold but they don't. The one on the right I know must be for the hydrovac and the other comes out of the valve cover and I have no idea on what that one is for. That's it for now and thanks for any and all help.

Stamped into the frame, behind the right front wheel, is the serial number. It may be difficult to find based on the number of coats of paint. Scraping may be necessary.

The are several other threads concerning this issues that may be of interest.

This and many others....

Dino,

Get yourself a copy of the Technical Manual TM9-801. If you do an internet search you will find several sources. Some sites will let you download the manual for free.

You have several fittings missing at the manifold. Three lines attach in that area. Check valve for hydrovac vacum (the large one but it needs the check valve. The one on the left in your photo is the crankcase vent tube and check valve. There should also be a small diam vacum line tee'd above the hydrovac line that connects to the vacum windshield wipers.

But find a TM manual and carry it like the bible.

congratulations and welcome.

I Don't know if it matters but I have TM 10-1563 and I also found the one you pointed out and got that one for free on pdf format. I guess my dad was right on that crankcase thing and I hope to dear God that check valve wont be to hard to find. Also My windshield wipers are electric so that is why there is no third line. Thank you very much for your help!

Sorry! I had no idea that I had any replies as I'm not getting any emails and I have no junk saying so.

Anyways, Thanks for figuring that out! The previous owner was not sure if it had had a military body at all but that makes me feel better.
