How hard would it be to put an air compressor in my cckw?

Post by 6x6 Dinosaur »

I was wondering since I wanted to use my cckw for actual work I wanted to have an air compressor driven off the motor, mainly for filling large tires and maybe an air horn later on. I have found only one electric compressor with a 100% duty cycle and that was over $600 and every thing under that had a crap duty cycle and tiny tanks for air horns only and the other thing is could I take a belt driven compressor off of a smaller wheelbarrow type compressor or do I have to use one from a big rig due to the horse power differences :?: I also probably don't need to but I want to do the same thing to my jeep as well but I bet it would be over kill for that :D
Vehicles I own
1943 GMC CCKW [duh!2011 xmas gift]
1971 Jeep DJ-5[my own money]
