steering wheel removal

Post by sixbysix »

Hi
...am trying to figure out a way of removing my hard rubber steering wheel without breaking it ...any and all suggestions appreciated! I have the horn button off and the steering wheel nut no problems - but am having difficulty budging it otherwise ... have tried some pine under the steering wheel 'butt' and belting it with a hammer as well as using a 2 'claw' puller with the claws attached to some pine braced under the wheel but not a mm so far despite putting enough pressure on to bend a 20 cent (Australian) coin I was using to protect the inner steering column ...

I have use a socket over the shaft onto the nut to protest the shaft. They also have a steering puller made for M-series HMVs that might work
