What are the Bolts?

Post by Bill_Wolf »

What are the Bolts (size, design, construction) that hold down the metal strips over the wood board in a CCKW composite body floor?

Joel...Do you or RAM have any of these.....I need them for new boards in my CCKW bed.

Also what is the thickness of the boards.....Anybody used common PT lumber for this. Oak is a little pricey. :(

Wood floors

Post by joel gopan »

Send me a sample, and I may be able to come op with proper Steel wear strips, and source a proper of fasteners. I can send you photocopies of floor hardware. Floor board specs for Wood in WWII were,
HARDWOOD
White Ash, Beech, Yellow Birch, rock elm, Hickory, Locust Magnolia, Maple, Oak, Pecan

SOFTWOOD
Douglas Fir, Western Larch, Pine, eastern, Pine Southern,
The range was liberal, and they needed production capability, as there was a War.
I bet your pocket book will have room for a wood floor now. I do not have the dimensions.
TM9-1801 Ord Maint for CCKW has details of construction and hardware used on Wood Cargo Body repair on Page 387 on.

I need your mailing address and a couple days.

Thanks Joel.

The metal floor strips look good. Just need new wood and new bolts to put through them.

Please note that this was an "Airborne" truck so the boards in the bed go only half way.

Will try to get some pics tomorrow.
