LPG installation is finished!

Post by Corne Lauwerijssen »

Hi guys

The installation is finished, yesterday I went to the gasoline station and filled the tank. At home I started it up with LPG, it needed some
adjusting to run smoother, this took about 2 minutes or less.
Today I had my first drive on LPG, it started right up, very fast.
On the road it was doing very good, I noticed no differences between
LPG or petrol.
To my great surprise I can run the installation without problems on 6 volt :D

I make some pics when I have new batteries for my camera.

lpg milage

Post by bobc »

It would be interesting to see how lpg compares milage wise to gasoline.Did you ever check your milage with gas? The only experiance I've had with LPG systems was back in the mid 90's,and they weren't very good. It would be interesting to see a cost per mile estimate on your truck once you get it on the road. A gallon of Liquid Propane, yields less BTUs than a Gallon of the low octane Gasoline, mileage is never an isue in a conversion in tha industry, it is maintenance and omissions. Your motoroil will stay cleaner, along with the air. Those who really benefit are the fleet owners that distribute LPG, they save big buck. Here in the USA, Commercial Vehicles that are Liquid Propane powered, require a placard to be diaplayed on the vehicle for Highway Tax Tax Purposes, It is akin to Decals required for large commercial vehicles using Diesel. #2 heating oil is dyed red to indicate to the Police and DOT inspectors that your are not using fuel that has a highway tax. If stopped, you may be asked for proof that the Highway Tax has been paid on your fuel. If you have no proof, the penalties may exceed the value of your truck.

Thanks for the replies!

I have no experience about fuel mileage, but I have been told that its almost the same. Overhere we pay $1.61 per liter or $7.32 per gallon for unleaded gasoline, leaded is expensiver, around $8.10 per gallon   Thus I pay around 275 dollar for a tank gasoline and around 100 dollar for LPG, thats why I decided to put LPG in it  .

LPG is very cheap compared with the gasoline $0.43 per liter or $1.95
per gallon.

I was curious what you guys are paying in the US for a gallon???

I keep you all informed.

I don't blame you for changing to a cheaper fuel. We are paying around $2.00 a gallon here in San Antonio, Texas. I don't drive my CCKW that much so I will stick to the gasoline. Good luck on your conversion, the photos look great.

lpg conversion

Post by bobc »

Does this system do away with the carb completly? The old systems I fought with still had the carb, but with a cover that fed the lpg through the carb,so you could use either fuel, but it didn't work very well.Looks like a very clean installation.

2 dollar for a gallon gasoline is cheap :P

Yes I could either use LPG or Gasoline, Ive droven about 20 miles
now, also in a small forest. I noticed nothing, it works very good.
I only have to test the LPG consumption per gallon.
